TATSU DO offers classes for adults and children in all areas martial arts instruction. Classes range from basic karate, including all types of self-defense, Aiki Jutsu, Ju Jutsu and traditional oriental weapons, including traditional Japanese sword. Safety is a component of our training and is always enforced. There are many benefits of learning karate and participants of all age can enjoy them.

AIKI JUTSU KOBUDO IAI JUTSU
Aiki Jutsu in Action Kobudo Practice Iai Jutsui - Sword Cutting Practice
While some basic Aiki Jutsu and Ju Jutsu are included in the Kartate training, Aiki Jutsu is taught as a separate art, which specializes in these techniques. Some examples are:
  • Mastering of falling / rolling techniques
  • Ju Jutsu throws, take-downs and locks
  • Aiki Jutsu wrist, elbow, shoulder locks, flips and take-downs.
  • Sleepers, Chokes & Back-Breakers
  • Advanced weapon defense, use of jo and yawara
  • Daito Ryu - Ikkajo through Gokajo

Basic Kobudo begins at adult Shodan rank. Students learn to work with with traditional okinawan weapons, including Bo, Sai, Tonfa, Kama & more. Weapon to weaon combat is practiced, eventually full speed and power.
  • Bo against Bo sparring & follow-up
  • Defense against sword (practiced with shinai) using all traditional weapons
  • Weapons Kata, using Bo, Sai, Kama, Tonfa, Nunchoku
  • Advanced weapon defenses, using weapons at hand, such as a cane

Iai Jutsu is the art of drawing and fighting using the Japnese Sword ( Katana). Students learn how to safely draw a sword, all types of cuts, and sword sparing using padded swords.
Training includes:
  • Draw, cut, put away sword
  • Happo Giri - 10 basic cuts
  • 7 Waza, 11 Kata + 15 Kumitachi Sets
  • Advanced students also learn Batto Do, Katori Shinto Ryu and Toyama Ryu kata
  • Tameshigiri - Goza cutting (under Iai Master supervision)
  • Goshin Ken sparring (padded swords)
